Mid-Lent 2025 – Everything You Need to Know: Parade Registration, Program, and Competitions
The Ducato di Piazza Pontida, as is now tradition, organizes ol Rasgamènt de la Ègia and the Mid-Lent parade, the most important folk event in Bergamo, which will take place over the Mid-Lent weekend from Saturday, March 22 to Sunday, March 23, 2025.
Registration of Floats for the Mid-Lent Parade 2025
Registrations will close without exception on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 6:00 PM. After this date, the online registration system will be deactivated.

“La Ègia piö bèla” Contest
On Saturday evening, March 22, 2025, in addition to the Rasgamènt de la Ègia, the ninth edition of the “La Ègia piö bèla” contest will take place. All groups and floats registered for the Sunday, March 23 parade are invited to participate. How? By entering their “Ègia” in the contest, which on Sunday afternoon will parade with their float and/or group, while the winner will open the Sunday parade alongside the Duke (see the rules below).
Mandatory: at the time of online registration, the group representative must upload a photo in jpg or pdf format representing the float/group, so it can be presented during the evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Mid-Lent 2025 Program
The event begins on Saturday, March 22 with the Rasgamènt de la Ègia.
A long-standing tradition, one of the oldest in lower Bergamo, the heart of popular Bergamo. It is the “tearing” of the city’s ugliness: the effigy is first sawed (hence the term “rasgamènt”) and then burned, symbolically removing the service, institution, or public work that has not functioned properly during the year, causing inconvenience to citizens.

Mid-Lent Parade. On Sunday, March 23, 2025, the Mid-Lent Festival organized by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida will take place: an exciting day featuring costumes and allegorical floats.
