Bergamasque – Italian Dictionary

Ducato di Piazza Pontida Italian – Bergamasque Dictionary
"This publication is therefore the result of the conversion from Bergamasque–Italian to Italian–Bergamasque of the following volumes:
“Vocabolario dei Dialetti Bergamaschi Antichi e Moderni” compiled by Antonio Tiraboschi – Bergamo, 1867 – Third complete facsimile edition – Officine della Poligrafiche Bolis S.p.A. – Bergamo, 1967.
“Vocabolario Bergamasco Fauna e Flora” by Enrico Caffi, edited by Mario Guerra and Vittorio Mora – Monumenta Bergomensia Edition, 198.
Additional Bergamasque words—marked with an asterisk—have been included when it was clear they had been omitted by Tiraboschi, along with many other terms that, in our opinion, have now become part of the Bergamasque language.
In preparing this volume, we have followed the grammatical and orthographic rules currently in use in the Bergamo area, which for the past twenty years have also been taught in the Bergamasque Dialect Course held by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida.
The names of Bergamasque localities and their respective nicknames were taken from:
“Una curiosa geografia bergamasca – Paesi e contrade e soprannomi delle loro genti” by Martino Campagnoni and Vittorio Mora (illustrations by Paolo Boselli, photos by Tino Terzi) – Presservice 80 Editions, Clusone (BG), 1982.
The notes on Bergamasque grammar were taken from:
“Note di grammatica del dialetto bergamasco” by Vittorio Mora – Edizioni Orobiche – Bergamo, 1966.
