Dialect is more than just a language: it is the soul of a place, a blend of pragmatism, irony, and history. Yet the numbers tell a clear story: the language of our grandparents is gradually disappearing, with a dramatic decline not only in everyday use but also in the understanding of even the most basic expressions among younger generations.

To respond to this challenge, a unique project was born, bringing together creativity, fashion, and local identity
The Project: A Bridge Between Yesterday and Tomorrow
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Ducato di Piazza Pontida, guardian of Bergamo’s cultural heritage, and the SILV Fashion School, a hub of young talent and innovation, and one of Bergamo’s leading institutions for fashion education.
The goal is simple yet ambitious: to take the dialect out of the attic and bring it back to the streets. How? Through a collection of iconic T-shirts that transform some of the most famous Bergamasque expressions into wearable statements.
The T-shirts are available in two versions:
- Standard Bergamasque Dialect T-shirts: €20.00
- Limited Edition T-shirts: €30.00
The limited edition collection consists of 100 numbered pieces, making each garment a unique and exclusive item.
Collection Highlights
· Young People at the Heart of the Project: The expressions featured on the T-shirts were not imposed from above; they were proposed and selected by the students themselves, choosing the sayings they felt were the most iconic and meaningful.
· Contemporary Design: Thanks to the creative work of the SILV Fashion School, tradition is reinterpreted through a modern and appealing aesthetic.
· An International Perspective: Each T-shirt features the original Bergamasque phrase alongside its English translation, creating a unique linguistic connection that makes the dialect accessible to tourists and digital-native generations alike.
· Supported by a Local Excellence: The project is proudly supported by Oriocenter, a landmark destination for the local community and a place where generations come together.
