One of the greatest masterpieces of Italian opera

Composed by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, La Traviata premiered in 1853 at La Fenice Theatre in Venice. Although its first performance received mixed reactions, it soon became one of the most beloved operas ever written.
Inspired by The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils, the opera tells the story of Violetta Valéry and her love for Alfredo Germont, exploring universal themes such as sacrifice, freedom, social prejudice and the power of love.
Featuring world-famous arias including Libiamo ne' lieti calici, Sempre libera and Addio del passato, La Traviata remains a cornerstone of the international operatic repertoire.

A new production by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida

This production presents a contemporary interpretation of Verdi's masterpiece while preserving the emotional depth and dramatic intensity that have made La Traviata timeless.
The production is directed by Mario Binetti, with musical direction by Maestro Antonio Brena.
Choir, orchestra, sets and costumes are produced by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida, bringing together experienced professionals and emerging young artists in a project dedicated to celebrating Italian operatic tradition.
