Dialect Theatre Returns to Bergamo


The Ducato di Piazza Pontida presents the 4th “Aldo e Enrica Ghisleni” Theatre Festival, with five evenings dedicated to Bergamo’s dialect theatre, its humour and the popular traditions of our local area.
From 17 October to 14 November 2026, every Saturday evening the stage of the San Giovanni Bosco Parish Cinema and Theatre in Borgo Santa Caterina will welcome a different theatre company, with comedies performed in the Bergamo dialect that promise laughter, entertainment and the pleasure of rediscovering a tradition that continues to live on through theatre.
Promoted by the Ducato di Piazza Pontida, the festival aims to celebrate and preserve Bergamo’s culture and traditions, while creating opportunities for people of all generations to come together.
All performances begin at 8:45 pm.

“Con tutto il bene che ti voglio…”
The festival opens with a performance by the I Tiratarde de Trescur theatre company from Trescore.

Saturday, 24 October 2026 — 8:45 pm

“La Meridiana” Theatre Company from Mapello
“Amanti, làder e dutùr… mai fidàs de lur!”
The second evening of the festival features the La Meridiana theatre company from Mapello.

“Il Sottoscala Luigi Colombo” Theatre Company from Rosciate
“I miràcoi del Frà Sircòt”
The third Saturday features the Il Sottoscala Luigi Colombo theatre company from Rosciate.

“La Sfongada” Theatre Company from Tavernola Bergamasca
“Per sòlcc, per unùr, per amùr…”
The festival continues with the La Sfongada theatre company from Tavernola Bergamasca.

Associazione Teatro Fratellanza della Val Gandino
“Sertùr per amùr?”
The Associazione Teatro Fratellanza della Val Gandino will bring the fourth edition of the “Aldo e Enrica Ghisleni” Theatre Festival to a close.

An Autumn of Dialect Theatre

The Ducato di Piazza Pontida concludes its programme of Bergamasque dialect theatre with Renzo e Lucia spusàs o spusàs mia, a lively musical comedy performed by the Il Teatro del Gioppino Theatre Company from Zanica.

This entertaining production offers a humorous reinterpretation of Alessandro Manzoni's masterpiece The Betrothed, combining local dialect, music and comedy in a performance that celebrates Bergamo's theatrical tradition.

The performance will take place on 11 September 2026 in Piazza del Sagittario at ChorusLife.
